Name: Rachel McCash (Miss Delaware)
Age: 24
Hobbies and recreation: I am an entertainer. I work in the motion picture, music and modeling industries and I love what I do! I enjoy writing music, working on my album, singing, playing the piano and guitar, dancing, putting on acoustic shows, modeling, acting in indie films and working out in my spare time. I enjoy my time in the gym, but also love to rock climb and participate in competitive taekwondo to stay in shape! I live in Utah and love to take advantage of the outdoors and go trail running, hiking and skiing! Charity, service projects and church attendance are also things I could not do without, and of course spending time with my friends and family! I’m also a certified fitness trainer and love to help people reach their fitness goals. I design work out programs for free to help the people in my community get in shape, become healthier and gain hope that although they may struggle with their weight or fitness goals, through hard work, anything is possible, not just with their bodies, but in their lives as well.
Goals: My goals for this year are to launch my website, my first album and hopefully win a Grammy Award or New Artist of the Year Award! I’d also love to see both my indie films hit theatres and create 3 music videos for my singles! I would love to create a program in elementary schools as well to help integrate new students into their new environment and help them feel welcome. I have moved 42 times, lived in 17 different states and attended 15 different schools, so I know how it feels to be the “new kid” and it can be super tough. So, I want to create a fun program to help the student realize that they are NOT what is new, the environment is new, that they have a name and a purpose and deserve to make new friends and be accepted for who they are. I’ve also started my autobiography and would love to get that published this year as well.
American Spirit Pageants means to me opportunity, potential and dreams. Pageants can be scary things! You get the opportunity to present yourself to the world and expose your sense of style, your personalty and fitness to the world to be judged. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to be able to do that–but at the same time–it is no different than what people do everyday to become successful. You have to put yourself out there and take chances and risks in order to make a difference in the world. I love this pageant and it’s partnership with the HavLife Foundation because it supports 2 extremely important things to me: music and fitness. Music is my life and I have careers in both the music and fitness industries. However, I had to fight incredibly hard to earn respect and my spot in those worlds because I did not have the opportunities when I was younger to take music lessons or do sports because my family did not have the money for it. For a long time I was discouraged because I honestly believed that I would be so much further along and so much better in my careers had I had the chance to be trained from childhood–and those beliefs are true. If there is a child that has a desire to experiment or knows that music and sports are what makes them happy, that child should have every right to learn–regardless of the cost. American Spirit Pageants means giving children the opportunities and the future that they deserve despite money. Money is only a tool for success, it doesn’t mean success. Following your dreams and passions is success, and this pageant supports and shows how important that difference is.
